Olga Borodina was born in Leningrad. In 1989 she graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Leningrad Conservatory studying under Valentina Gagen and Irina Bogacheva. In 1987 she won First Prize in the Twelfth Glinka USSR Vocal Competition for young singers and that same year was invited to join the Mariinsky Theatre where she débuted as Siébel in Faust.

Her fame began to spread internationally after she made her début at the Royal Opera House Convent Garden (in Samson and Delilah, 1992), and the opera will be given a concert performance in this year’s Easter Festival.

Today Olga Borodina is a world-class singer who performs at the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Covent Garden, the San Francisco Opera, the Opéra Bastille, the Wiener Staatsoper, Carnegie Hall, the Barbican Centre, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome and many more. She is a regular participant in the festivals of Edinburgh, Salzburg, and Luxembourg. Her partners on stage have included Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, James Levine, Riccardo Muti, Antonio Pappano, Colin Davis, and Carlo Rizzi among many others.

Olga’s discography has reached over 20 recordings released on Philips Classics, Erato, and Decca. In 2011 Olga Borodina was awarded a Grammy in the best classical album category. She is a People’s Artist of Russia and winner of the State Prize of Russia.
